Correction: Immunosuppressive Effects of Corticosteroids for Infantile Hemangioma
A correction to a summary published June 18, 2010
In the summary "Immunosuppressive Effects of Corticosteroids for Infantile Hemangioma," published online June 18, 2010, we incorrectly characterized published reports. There have been three reports of Pneumocystis carinii (jirovecii) pneumonia in patients receiving systemic corticosteroids for infantile hemangiomas, but these infants survived. Two deaths associated with P. carinii (jirovecii) pneumonia have been reported in infants receiving corticosteroids for Diamond-Blackfan anemia. We have corrected the error in our original summary, and we apologize for the mistake.
