Reader Remarks on:

Is "Chronic Lyme Disease" Real?

long term antibiotic treatment

My arthritis has returned after about a 10 years absence of limiting symptoms. I was treated for about 1 and a half years with minocycline or doxycline with 1 zithromax each week. Do you have any experience in this regard, interest in, or know of any one who is using this currently?

Antibiotic treatment

I have Lymes and didn't even know I had been bitten by a tick until I developed concentration and memory issues, fatigue, weight gain, muscle aches, etc.

I was treated with Doxycycline and got better. When it came back I was surprised that the infectious disease specialist I had seen would not give me another antibiotic treatment.

However, as a person who has had acne, I was on antibiotics (including the same dose of Doxycycline) for years and no one was concerned about that treatment.

Why is antibiotic treatment a controversial issue for Lymes and not controversial for the treatment of acne?
