Reader Remarks on:

Vitamin D and UVB Radiation: How Much Is Necessary?

Vitamin D really needed

Louis Tsarouhas, MD, private practice, Lawrenceville NJ, 18 Jan 2012 8:46 PM EST

Competing interests: None declared

Specialty: Family Medicine

As a clinician who measures 25-OH Vit D levels on every pt. for the last 6 years I can say how hard it is to get (normal kidney-funtion )pts. to levels of greater than 50 ng/dl.

More needs to be done to promote adequate D3 supplementation to help pts. overall globalhealth. There is such a dearth of info because of the lack of commercial gain to any company selling this inexpensive, necessary vitamin.
